95% of people trying a diet fail.
That’s not a good chance for you.
I want you to know that you have what it takes to lose the weight and to feel and look better.
It can be done, but you must approach it entirely differently.
If the only reason you start a diet is to lose weight, you’ll end up like the 95%.
However, if you can genuinely and honestly view this as a process of improving your whole self, you will transform your life.
CHANGE THE PARADIGM
Weight loss is not a goal. It’s not a reason to start a diet or a fitness program. We should eat and move to:
- Improve our health
- Fortify our function
WEIGHT LOSS IS NOT A GOAL, IT’S A BYPRODUCT OF:
- Healthy Living
- Sound Nutrition
- Functional Movement
It’s not a goal; it’s a byproduct.
WHAT YOUR GOAL SHOULD BE:
Any specific examples from the list above would be great goals. For example:
- Going to sleep at 9 PM and waking up at 5 AM to get 8 hours of sleep.
- Avoiding all unnecessary sugar in my diet.
- Starting a new movement practice with the help of a qualified trainer.
All of these can help you achieve a lifestyle that promotes healthy weight.
WHY THIS WORKS BETTER THAN JUST STARTING A NEW DIET
It’s really hard to lose weight.
Having a healthy lifestyle provides the support needed to succeed.
Consider the habits we perform on autopilot. When it gets tough—and it always will—you can rely on those habits to carry you through.
This way, you’re not falling off too much each time, and you can get back on track quickly.
HOW TO MAKE IT ALL WORK
- Set it and forget it.
- Create action-oriented goals that move you toward your objectives.
- Track it—what we track, we tend to improve.
Focus your energy, time, and creativity on the process.
Step into it. You must fully commit with your whole being.
It can’t just be about eating better or thinking of health only when you exercise.
It’s more than a checklist, you have to fully embody health and fitness.
PITFALLS TO AVOID:
- Complication: Keep it simple. Start by reducing your calories by 10% and use foods and meals you currently enjoy. Just eat a little less.
- Doing too much: You’re not aiming to be an Olympic athlete when you first start out. Move a little every day. Bodyweight exercises are perfect for beginners. Also, add walking on the days when you’re not strength training.
- Losing too fast: Nothing will cause you to fail faster than being hungry or dreading exercise. You just need to do enough to move the scale and measurements in the right direction.
WRAPPING IT UP
Create the lifestyle that supports your health and fitness goals.
Instead of setting out to start a diet to lose weight, begin with the intention to improve your life.
Look to increase your energy and feel confident in your body through functional movement.
This takes time and effort, but it’s worth it. It will be the best thing you do.
I know you can do it.
